Chief Neil Gamez

Born and raised in Sonora, California, I graduated from Sonora High school and received my degree from Columbia Junior College. Growing up in the Tuolumne County fire service, it has always been my dream to serve this community as the Fire Chief.  Serving as Twain Harte CSD’s Training Captain over the last seven years, I expressed my passion through development of major fire training programs, live fire training facilities, and community projects. It is my great pleasure to continue to build on that work as I step into serving our community in my new role as Chief.

The Twain Harte community owes a debt of gratitude to our former Chief, Todd McNeal, for his leadership and continual drive for excellence.  His contributions greatly improved our department, setting a high standard for providing excellent services. As we move forward in these unprecedented times, change is inevitable; therefore, we are committed to continual improvement through assessing and evaluating current operations, policies and procedures to ensure we provide the highest level of service to all members of our community.

I am fortunate to lead a group of passionate and dedicated firefighting personnel, who are committed to uphold the upstanding reputation that Twain Harte CSD’s Fire Department has developed with the community and cooperating agencies. Our Department’s mission, “providing professional emergency response and superior customer service” is evident in our daily activities and our provision of 24/7 rapid response to all types of emergency and non-emergency calls for service.

Our Department’s motto, “Protecting our Community” is something that we take very seriously. Our goal has always been to prevent tragedy from happening rather than responding to it after it has occurred. We are proud of the extensive fire prevention and safety education programs we offer our community in the form of business inspections, vacant lot vegetation management, youth safety education programs, and preparedness education through the Twain Harte Area CERT. This diverse approach to prevention encompasses our entire community, making it a safe place to live and work.

The close-knit, family atmosphere in Twain Harte is contagious and unique. Our residents, business owners, and community organizations in Twain Harte are extremely supportive of our fire department. With strong relationships, we accomplish a lot with a little. Our success as a fire department and as a community depend on maintaining and developing these relationships.

In closing, as Fire Chief I will strive to keep the community of Twain Harte well informed on the fire department’s activities and accomplishments, while consistently maintaining an open line of communication and transparency with our residents and business owners. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at ngamez@twainhartecsd.com .

Respectfully,

Neil Gamez, Fire Chief
